Happy 3rd anniversary!

18th July, our anniversary!

First of all, thank you so much for the amazing time we have already spent together and all the things we already discovered and I am sure, there is much more to come and can’t wait for it!

But know, let’s get back to our daily update. As it was our anniversary, we decided to change some of our plans and just go with something more relaxing than running through this endless city, go with something that fits perfectly to us: Visiting a scientific museum.

Luckily, there are many options in Montréal, but there is only one place that additionally inspires us with its architecture and location: the Biosphère!blog-04755

Located in a park on an island outside the city but easily reachable with the métro in less than 10 minutes, the Biosphère is on of the only remaining parts of the Expo 67 (such as the Habitat 67 from yesterday’s post) and is nowadays used as a scientific museum to present the importance of biodiversity and the dangers of environmental pollution to the public by demonstrating scientific principles and allow the visitors to perform their own experiments. Therefore, its motivation states as follows:

We are all of the same Earth. All living things share a common space, the planet Earth. Our planet is also a living entity: born into being a long time ago, it will be extinguished in another several billion years. The guiding principle is to live in harmony with each other, and with nature. We have a responsibility to protect this unique Earth in order that it can provide us all with the most lasting benefits. Life on Earth is a privilege and the protection of nature a condition.blog-04770blog-04785blog-04788blog-04791blog-048040_blog-048100_blog-0481720170718_1533430_blog-048310_blog-048660_blog-048600_blog-048410_blog-04850blog-04875

After such an eventful excursion we had time for our second passion. As probably everyone knows, we are total gourmets. And although we already partially celebrated in Chicago, we, of course, had to repeat it on the correct date in Montréal. So we went for our table at the Bonaparte restaurant near the old port to get some good food, passing the endless line of tourists waiting to enter the Notre-Dame Basilica, to toast to our 3rd anniversary.20170718_195008blog-184904

(Der Durchmesser der Kugel ist 76 Meter, ihre Höhe beträgt 62 Meter. Ein komplexes System von Sonnenschirmen erlaubte die Kontrolle der Innentemperatur.)
