Impressions of Labuan Bajo

Although we are not there anymore, due to the lack of a good internet connection, we had to wait until we were able to share some more images of the beautiful and versatile Labuan Bajo.

20160728-DSC00182The garden leading to the mainstreet connecting our accommodation with the center of Labuan Bajo.

20160728-DSC00169One of several ports. While this is a small one there are larger ones for containerships and ferries. On the right side is a small night market where several fishermen sell roasted fish for dinner.

DSC00156Although most people in Labuan Bajo are Catholics there are two or three Mosques right in the center, like this one next to the main port.

DSC00152The streets are crowded with motorcycles. A lot of them can be used as taxis, although it might be safer to just walk.

DSC00178Since walking on the street might be an additional problem sometimes, there are several small vans used as “public transport” which drive in circles all day long. Although most of them are in a horrible condition and the money the earn seems to be used only to upgrade their soundsystem, for 10’000 IDR they offer the easiest way to get through Labuan Bajo quickly.

20160725-DSC00126The beautiful sunset as seen from our little Pondok at the Villa Seirama Alam.

DSC00238The view onto Labuan Bajo and its main port. Unfortunatelly, the city has a huge litter problem. Nevertheless it is just a little paradise with very friendly citizens who show you the biggest and most heart-warming smile as soon as you try to just speak some words in Indonesian.
