Once more we spent a full day exploring the neighborhood as well as the tourist spots in Lower Manhattan. So we started off in the morning to visit Little Italy and Chinatown which we were able to reach from our hotel by foot in about 15 minutes. Both districts are located at the same street, but while Little Italy is continuously shrinking, Chinatown is rapidly expanding (with a current population of over 600’000, out of which only about 100’000 are Chinese). Unfortunately, we managed to eat in the probably worst Italian restaurant in whole Little Italy, so we went back to our hotel after our rather strange lunch to relax our bellies.

After a short nap, we went out again to finish the tour we already started on the previous day. On our plan was the Battery park (with a very strange but at the same time interesting carousel) at the lower end of Manhattan from which we were able to see the Statue of Liberty. As it was already rather late, we did not take the boat tour to get closer, but that was fine with us, as every single boat seemed to sink due to the mass of passengers. We then went on visit the Brooklyn Bridge. The almost 2 km long bridge was built in 1870, however as it was once more really crowded, we only walk on it for about 1 km and then returned back in the direction of our hotel. This is when we actually found the highlight of our day: a small authentic Greek restaurant, located right around the corner from our hotel, with delicious vegetarian food.
