Our first day in New York City started with amazing weather, so we went out to visit the first tourist hotspot. The historically important ground zero consists now of a beautiful park right next to the new One World Trade Center with a modern memorial center (it is called like that, however the inside reminds more of a mall). So here are some images of the crowded but beautifully designed the ground zero area:

As we were already near a H&M (there is one right in World Trade Center 4 with even a men’s department that is as large as a full shop in Switzerland), we decided to get some new socks, as the once we brought from home are pretty useless and cleaning socks is more expensive then buying new ones. But of course, as the prices in the U.S. are much lower for clothes, we ended up with a full bag which made further explorations rather exhausting and navigating through the crowds of tourist very complicated. Nevertheless we managed to visit the charging bull by Arturo Di Modica near Wall Street or better, the tourist groups where the bull should be located. At least we were able to get a picture of the little fearless girl (by Kristen Visbal), who faces the charging bull, and Svenja (the “creepy little girl” on the right).

Exhausted due to the amount of tourists we headed back to our hotel before we had some early dinner at another local restaurant, this time serving authentic Ukrainian food.
