Making the best out of it

After a terrible night we were roused by the construction site right in front of our window. In the following image you can see the hallway to our room with the window at the end missing due to the construction.20170721_135542

With a terrible noise level due to the missing window right next to our room, we decided to get out as fast as possible and find some breakfast. Totally powerless we managed to walk for 20 minutes and got some great food, however it wasn’t enough to compensate for our missing power. So we slowly walked back toward to hotel and made some stops at other “Cafés” (which in the American term just means that you can get burgers but not the things we are used to from the European Cafés) and rested in a small park surrounded by a crazy expensive high-society mall.20170721_11460320170721_11475420170721_11500120170721_115524

By the way, to our astonishment, the “Kebabish” car was the only Kebab-like place we have seen so far in America.

Once we got back to our hotel it was noon, so we actually got some time to sleep as the workers were resting for quite long. With at least some of our normal power level left, we went downstairs into the bar which is directly connected with our hotel and got something to drink. Once there, it was not hard to figure out, that we were staying above a magnet for gay men. And that the actually hotel was probably built for the visitors of the bar, rather than the other way around. Nevertheless, the service was of course very friendly and welcoming.20170721_164043

While having our drinks, we made our first plans for the following days, including the discussion on where we wanted to have dinner. However, it was way more complicated to find a table in average “real” Italian restaurant than we thought. So it took as 30 minutes of Tripadvisor search, just to get back to the first option (without Pizza, but after that long time, even Nino was fine with it).

And so an day ended that started just terrible but slowly and steady got better and we headed off by public transport to a small underground restaurant called “Grotto”, where they served us great traditionally Italian food combined with local specialties. The images below show our way to the Grotto after we got off the bus.20170721_18185720170721_19490620170721_18213320170721_18230720170721_182827
