A city full of art

As it was the first full day in Montréal, we had already many plans. So we got up early and had breakfast at a small restaurant nearby: de farine et d’eau fraîche, one of the only places that actually makes the bread by themselfs. It is therefore not really astonishing, that it was clearly the best bagel we had so far.blog-093707

On our way back, we already realised what a special and beautiful city Montréal actually is. The city is densely packed all kinds of art, including several stories high murals or photography exhibitions right at the street. So here is a small selection of things we found on our 15 minute walk back to the hotel: (of course including the indispensable fight between the local dishes, i.e. smoked meat and poutine)blog-102053blog-102133blog-103322blog-102912blog-102905blog-102936blog-103153blog-103413blog-103433blog-104053blog-101739blog-102022

After a short break at our room, we left for the Olympic park. It was built for the Olympic Summer Games in 1976 and is nowadays used for several museums including the Biodome, which is some kind of zoo, or a planetarium. On our way back we decided to make use of our public transport tickets (3 day passes cost 18$) and visit some local parks, once more decorated with some beautiful murals (and with at leeeeeast 200 squirrels).blog-04513blog-04573blog-04553blog-04592

On our last trip of the day we went for the old port including the old town of Montréal, which is a large tourist spot and had therefore the worst possible food to offer. However, by picking the right routes we were able to avoid most of it and even discovered rather empty spaces such as the clock tower at the tip of the port (which this time only Svenja visited as it was too small while at the same time to high for Nino). Also, it is worth to take a closer look at the special building (Habitat 67) in the image after the one with the Ferries wheel.blog-04599blog-195052blog-195125blog-195040blog-04651blog-04650blog-04638blog-04631blog-04666blog-04709blog-04737blog-04688blog-04701blog-04703
