Labuan Bajo – Ende – Moni – UPDATE

20160730-DSC00251Due to a food poisoning we had to leave Labuan Bajo one day later than planned which wasn’t a big deal. Stephanie picked us up and drove us to the local airport. Since we had some time left we did a quick stop at a small Hindu temple which was actually located in the forest just behind our accomodation.

The bigger problem was that our credit card got blocked over night. Since the limited you’re allowed to withdraw per transaction is quite low in Labuan Bajo and we had to pay for the Villa Seirama Alam we lived in for the last week, we had to withdraw the maximum amount 4 times. Unfortunatelly this action was interpreted as an attempt to defraud by de bank. And since it was already Saturday we neither had a chance to get in contact with the bank nor did they inform us about the problem. Luckily Stephanie was able to lend us some money for the next days and by the help of Nino’s parents the problem with the bank was resolved. Nevertheless we were not able to withdraw additional money before traveling to Moni and since this is situated in the center of the jungle, there is also no possibility to get some more.

20160730-DSC00288The flight from Labuan Bajo to Ende was a quick but interesting one. It was impressive to see all the endless jungles underneath and the large numbers of volcanos to closer we came to Ende. Our driver, Mateo, was already waiting for us and brought us on the fastest way to Moni. On our drive with did some short stops to marvel at the beautiful landscape we were traveling through. While at some places everything was covered into a thick forest, others were full of rice fields.

20160730-DSC00298Before reaching Moni we also stopped at a small market which was arranged along the street to buy some fruits (like the banana a monkey will be very happy about on the next day). Moni itself was only a very small village with about 700 residents. Almost every family had a homestay for tourists which wanted to visit the famous Kelimutu. Since we were one day later than expected, we had to book a new room. Luckily there was still one free in Mateo’s place and we decided to stay for two instead of only one day.
